Case Study: Year 2

Resilience: How resilient is my bean? Science: Plants Year 2 launched CARES for the first time via their Science unit: Plants. This involved growing a bean from a seed. Year 2 were able to incorporate something from the whole-school ‘Wish List’ enabling children to have the experience of growing something to eat. Subject specific knowledge, skills and vocabulary were taken straight from the Science progression grid. By looking at planning, the Year 2 team show clear strategies for learning key knowledge, by deploying the school’s collaborative learning techniques. In the first session, C1P (Catch-1-Partner) was used to recall names of common plants and trees.
